Editorial policy & methodology
Recalls.ie exists to help people in Ireland check quickly and reliably whether a product they own has been recalled. This page explains where our information comes from, how we handle it, and how we keep it accurate.
Independence
Recalls.ie is an independent Irish site. We are not affiliated with the FSAI, CCPC, RSA or any government body, and we are not paid by manufacturers or retailers to publish, amend or remove a recall. We do not issue recalls or make safety judgements of our own; we report the official notices.
Where our information comes from
Every recall on this site is taken from an official Irish or EU regulator: the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (food and allergens), the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (consumer products) and the Road Safety Authority (vehicles). Each recall page links to the original notice so you can verify it at source.
How we process each recall
- We check the official sources continuously and publish new recalls within minutes of them appearing.
- For each notice we write a plain-English summary and pull out the key details: affected batch codes, dates, model or serial numbers, the retailers or marketplaces involved, the hazard type, and the action to take.
- We keep the wording of the official notice and never add severity claims or advice that isn't in the source.
- We re-check recent recalls for changes. If a source amends a notice we mark it amended; if a notice is withdrawn we keep the page live with a clear banner rather than deleting it.
Our use of automation and AI
We use automated tools to collect notices from the official sources, and AI to help write the plain-English summaries and structure the details. Everything is grounded in the official notice: we mirror its wording and do not invent facts, batch codes or safety advice. The official notice, linked on every page, is always the authoritative version.
Accuracy and corrections
We work to keep every recall accurate and up to date. If you spot a mistake, or a recall we have missed, please contact us. We read every message and correct errors quickly. For the definitive detail on any recall, always follow the linked official notice.
