BMW Automotive (Ireland) Limited has announced a voluntary recall affecting several series of BMW vehicles due to various safety concerns. One issue involves the head airbags in certain Ix3 vehicles, which may not have been installed correctly. If these airbags deploy in an accident, they could malfunction, posing a risk of injury to occupants. This recall affects 58 vehicles produced between December 18, 2025, and May 8, 2026.
Another recall pertains to the 5 series, 7 series, i5, i7, and M5 models, where a damaged cockpit cable harness during microfilter replacement could lead to a short circuit and potential fire. This affects 1,067 vehicles manufactured between June 9, 2022, and December 5, 2025.
Additionally, certain 3 series and M3 vehicles are being recalled due to a potential malfunction of the driver airbag inflator, which may degrade over time. If deployed, the inflator could burst, causing metal fragments to pose serious injury risks. This recall impacts 1,485 vehicles produced from November 3, 1998, to August 24, 2006.
Further recalls involve 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 series vehicles where issues with the RSW22 starter could lead to accidental vehicle start-up or short circuits, affecting 197 vehicles made between May 28, 2020, and October 4, 2024. Lastly, certain X3 vehicles are recalled due to a steering system sensor malfunction that could lead to unintended steering movements, impacting 315 vehicles produced from June 20, 2023, to November 27, 2025. Affected customers will be contacted directly and should make an appointment with their local Authorized Repairer for necessary repairs.
