BMW Automotive (Ireland) Limited is initiating a voluntary recall of specific BMW vehicles due to safety concerns. One issue involves certain BMW Ix3 vehicles where the head airbags may not have been installed correctly. If these airbags deploy in an accident, they could malfunction, potentially causing injury to occupants. This recall affects 58 vehicles produced between December 18, 2025, and May 8, 2026.
Another recall involves the 5 series, 7 series, i5, i7, and M5 vehicles, where a damaged cockpit cable harness during microfilter replacement could lead to a short circuit and fire. This affects 1,067 vehicles manufactured between June 9, 2022, and December 5, 2025.
Additionally, certain 3 series and M3 vehicles are being recalled due to a potential malfunction of the driver airbag inflator, which could burst and release metal fragments, posing serious injury risks. This recall impacts 1,485 vehicles built between November 3, 1998, and August 24, 2006. Similarly, 6,992 vehicles from the 1 and 3 series, including X1, X3, and M3 models, are also affected by the same airbag inflator issue, produced between July 23, 2010, and June 30, 2015.
Lastly, 197 vehicles from the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 series, including X3, X4, and X5 models, are recalled due to a potential thermal reaction from the RSW22 starter. Additionally, 315 X3 vehicles are affected by a steering system sensor issue that could lead to unintended steering movements, increasing the risk of accidents.
