Gowan Distributors Limited (Opel Ireland) has announced a recall affecting several Opel vehicle models due to safety concerns. The recall includes the Opel Grandland X, Corsa, Astra, Combo, Vivaro, Movano, and Frontera models, with specific issues ranging from power steering loss to potential fire hazards caused by fuel leaks. Customers are encouraged to check if their vehicle is among those affected.

The Opel Grandland X may experience a loss of power steering assist due to a mechanical failure in the gearbox bearing, which could cause the steering to lock. Meanwhile, certain Corsa, Astra, Combo, and Vivaro vehicles with the DV5R engine are at risk of engine failure due to a slippage issue with the water pump pulley. Additionally, some Corsa, Frontera, and Mokka models may have insufficient clearance between components, which could lead to overheating and fire risks.

The recall also includes Opel Movano vehicles that may have non-compliant fuel return pipes, posing a risk of fuel leaks and potential fires. Lastly, Astra L, Combo, and Vivaro models fitted with a DV5R engine may face fuel leaks due to a design issue that could lead to fires under the bonnet.

A total of 1,435 vehicles are affected across these recalls in the Republic of Ireland. Gowan Distributors Limited will directly contact all affected customers to arrange for necessary repairs at local Opel Dealers or Authorized Repairers.
