Peugeot recalls multiple models due to fire risk and door handle malfunction

Gowan Distributors Limited (Peugeot Ireland) is conducting a voluntary recall for specific models of Peugeot vehicles due to safety concerns. The affected models include the Peugeot 308 V3, 408, 3008 V3, 5008 V3, 208 V2, Rifter, Partner, Expert, and Boxer. Various issues have been identified, such as the interior door handles potentially deactivating unexpectedly, which could prevent occupants from exiting the vehicle in an emergency. This poses a risk of injury or suffocation in case of a collision.

In addition, some vehicles equipped with the DV5R engine may experience engine failure due to a slippage issue with the water pump pulley, potentially leading to a loss of power and detachment of parts on the road. Furthermore, certain models may have insufficient clearance between components, which could result in water infiltration and electric arcing, increasing the risk of fire.

The recall affects a total of 4,018 vehicles in the Republic of Ireland, produced between November 2023 and February 2026. Consumers who believe their vehicle may be affected are encouraged to contact Peugeot customer care for further assistance and to determine the necessary steps for addressing these issues.
