Gowan Distributors Limited is conducting a mandatory recall of specific Jeep Avenger passenger vehicles due to a safety concern. Some of these vehicles may have been assembled with inadequate clearance between the petrol particulate filter tube and the terminal protection cap of the 48 V belt-driven starter alternator. This insufficient clearance can potentially allow water to infiltrate, which may cause an electric arc and lead to overheating. In severe cases, this situation could result in a fire in the engine compartment.
In addition, Gowan Distributors is also recalling certain Jeep Wrangler and Cherokee passenger vehicles. These vehicles may have HV battery packs that contain cells susceptible to separator damage. Although this issue is rare, if it occurs alongside other complex interactions within the cell, it may increase the risk of a vehicle fire, posing a danger to both the occupants and those nearby.
In total, there are 96 affected Jeep Avenger vehicles registered in the Republic of Ireland between 09 March 2023 and 18 December 2025, and 6 affected Wrangler and Cherokee vehicles registered between 01 July 2020 and 25 November 2025. Owners of these vehicles will be contacted by Jeep with further instructions on how to proceed with the recall.
