Jaguar Land Rover Ireland Limited has announced a voluntary recall affecting several vehicle models, including the Evoque, Discovery, and Defender. The recall is due to multiple safety concerns identified through technical analysis and field reports. One significant issue is that in certain Evoque and Discovery vehicles, the engine may stall and not restart after being driven in electric vehicle mode, leading to a loss of power.
Additionally, some Defender and Discovery vehicles from model year 2026 have been found to have fuel tanks with wall thickness below design specifications, which could increase the risk of fuel spillage and fire in the event of a crash. There are also concerns regarding the driver’s airbag circuit in various models from 2020 to 2027, where corrosion may prevent the airbag from deploying during an accident, increasing the risk of injury.
Moreover, certain Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque, and Defender vehicles have been flagged for potential fire risks due to internal cell behavior in the high-voltage battery. A total of 101 vehicles are affected by the engine stalling issue, while 3 vehicles are impacted by the fuel tank concern, and 2,255 vehicles are at risk due to airbag issues. Lastly, 46 vehicles may face fire risks from the high-voltage battery.
Jaguar Land Rover will directly contact affected customers to arrange for necessary repairs at local dealers or authorized repairers. Customers who believe their vehicle may be affected can also reach out to Jaguar Land Rover Ireland Limited for assistance.
