Kia Ireland has announced a voluntary recall for specific Kia Rio model vehicles due to a safety concern. The issue arises from the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU), which is responsible for the Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control System, and Traction Control System. In some cases, the HECU can remain powered even when the vehicle is turned off, and if moisture enters this unit, it may cause an electrical short circuit, potentially resulting in a fire in the engine compartment.

The recall affects a total of 652 Kia Rio vehicles manufactured between 28 October 2009 and 26 September 2011. Owners of these vehicles are encouraged to check if their vehicle is part of this recall.
