Mitsubishi Fuso recalls Canter vehicles due to lighting and safety sensor issues

Mitsubishi Fuso Ireland is conducting a voluntary recall for specific models of the Mitsubishi Fuso eCanter and Canter commercial vehicles due to identified safety concerns. The eCanter vehicles, produced between June 23, 2023, and April 30, 2024, have a potential issue where the Active Side Guard Assist sensor's coverage area may be blocked by the vehicle's body or added accessories. This could lead to false dashboard warnings and increase the risk of accidents as the system may fail to detect nearby road users or obstacles in time.

Additionally, certain Mitsubishi Fuso Canter vehicles produced from July 11, 2024, to December 9, 2022, are being recalled due to a software error in the SSAM module, which controls various lighting devices and windscreen wipers. If these systems fail, it could significantly reduce visibility during dark or rainy conditions, increasing the likelihood of accidents. Furthermore, there are concerns regarding the rear axle leaf springs in Canter vehicles manufactured between January 8, 2015, and October 31, 2019. If these springs are made from substandard materials, they may break, posing a risk to other road users from falling debris.

A total of 16 eCanter vehicles and 66 Canter vehicles are affected by the respective recalls. Mitsubishi Fuso Ireland will be reaching out directly to all impacted customers, advising them to schedule an appointment with their local dealer or authorized repairer for necessary repairs or part replacements.
