Mercedes-Benz recalls multiple models due to steering and airbag hazards

Motor Distributors Limited is initiating a recall for specific Mercedes-Benz models, including the C-Class, CLE, E-Class, EQE, EQE SUV, EQS, GLC, S-Class, and SL. The recall is due to a safety concern regarding the screw connection of the steering coupling, which may not meet specifications. This could lead to a loosening of the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the steering box, resulting in a potential loss of steering control and an increased risk of accidents. A total of 51 vehicles produced between 02 March 2022 and 23 July 2025 are affected in the Republic of Ireland.

Additionally, there is a recall for the Mercedes-Benz Viano and Vito models due to a defect in the driver airbag inflator, which could cause uncontrolled inflation and release metal fragments upon deployment, posing a risk of injury. This affects 1,870 vehicles produced between 03 December 2002 and 24 February 2006.

Another recall involves an issue with the fuse box in certain models, which may lead to failures in connected systems, potentially resulting in loss of drive or compromised safety systems. This affects 6 vehicles produced between 31 January 2023 and 17 October 2023. Furthermore, a recall for the EQE model addresses the risk of wheel cover fixings detaching while driving, which could pose a danger to other road users. One vehicle produced between 19 October 2022 and 28 May 2024 is impacted.

Lastly, a recall for the GLC model has been issued due to improperly tightened bolt connections in the dashboard area, which could impair airbag deployment and increase injury risk in an accident. This affects one vehicle produced between 23 February 2023 and 19 June 2023. Affected customers will be contacted directly by Motor Distributors Limited to arrange necessary repairs at local dealers or authorized repairers.
