Dunelm has announced a recall for several novelty doorstops due to concerns that the sand inside may contain asbestos. This material is prohibited in the EU due to its health risks. Although current information suggests a low risk to human health, the company is taking precautionary measures to ensure consumer safety.
The affected products include various designs such as Ralph the Schnauzer, Hare, Pug, Hedgehog, and others, sold both online and in stores from May 2025 to February 2026. Consumers are advised to stop using these doorstops immediately and take necessary precautions when handling them.
Consumers should place the doorstops in heavy-duty plastic bags, seal them securely, and store them out of reach of children. If the product is damaged and sand is exposed, it is important to clean the area with wet cloths while wearing gloves and a protective mask. For disposal, consumers should contact the place of purchase for a refund and follow local guidelines for disposing of potentially hazardous materials.
