The Entertainer is carrying out a recall of Hunter Price Squishy Pugs as sold in Tesco.   

Three small rubber squeeze toys shaped like pugs. The toys are in blue, pink, and beige colours, each with textured surfaces and round eyes. In front of the toys are circular product labels reading “Sensory toybox squishy pugs – cute and squishy,” with an age marking of “3+” and conformity markings including CE and UKCA. A barcode label is visible on one of the tags.
The products present a risk to health as the sand inside the product may contain asbestos. Asbestos is a banned substance across the EU because it poses a risk to health. HSE Public Health advice is that there is low risk to human health from these sand products based on current information. 

The CCPC continues to engage with the Health Service Executive (HSE), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA), as required. Further updates will be provided as soon as additional information becomes available.  

The brand is Hunter Price. The SKU is 567421. The item code is 22782ENT. The barcode is 5061010227820.  

The product was sold between May 2024 and February 2026 in Tesco stores. Please see the example below on how to locate your product’s item code:

What to do:    

In line with the position in the UK, the CCPC is advising consumers who have the product in their home to do the following:    

  • Stop using the product immediately. 
  • Place the product in a heavy-duty plastic bag, seal it securely, label it clearly and store it in a secure location out of reach of children. Contact your local authority for advice on collection and disposal. 
  • If the product is punctured and the sand inside is accessible, clean sites where the product was used using wet cloths to avoid generating dust. Wear gloves and a protective FFP2 face mask or equivalent. Do not use a vacuum cleaner for clean-up. Double bag the sand, gloves, mask and cloths. Seal it securely, label it clearly and store it in a secure location out of reach of children. Contact your local authority for advice on collection and disposal.  
  • Prior to disposal contact Tesco to request a refund. No receipt is required.
