Lapierre has issued a recall for specific models of their Aircode DRS and Xelius SL bicycles from the years 2021 to 2023. The issue arises from an aluminium shim that may create indentations on the fork steerer tube. Over time, these indentations could develop into cracks, posing a risk of fork failure while riding, which could result in injuries to the rider.
The affected models include various configurations of the Aircode DRS and Xelius SL bicycles, with approximately 19 units sold in the Republic of Ireland. Notably, Lapierre Xelius SL3 bikes equipped with a Lapierre carbon cockpit are not included in this recall. The bicycles were sold through multiple retailers, including Cycle Superstore, The Hub For Life, and Barrow Bikes, among others.
Consumers who own one of the affected bicycles should stop using it immediately and reach out to an authorized Lapierre dealer for inspection. If the bike is confirmed to be affected, the dealer will arrange for a fork replacement. Owners can also contact Lapierre directly through their online form or by emailing support.uk@lapierre.com for further assistance.
