The Entertainer recalls ORB Funkee Sand Toys due to asbestos risk

The Entertainer has announced a recall of ORB Funkee Sand Toys, specifically the ORB Funkee Small Dogs and ORB Funkee Small Assortment models, which were sold in Tesco stores from July 2025 to February 2026. The concern arises from the sand contained in these toys, which may potentially include asbestos, a hazardous material that is prohibited in the EU due to its health risks.

While the Health Service Executive (HSE) has indicated that the risk to human health from these products is currently considered low, it is still important for consumers to take precautions. The recall affects all batches of the mentioned products, and consumers are advised to stop using them immediately.

Consumers who have these toys at home should place them in a heavy-duty plastic bag, seal it, and store it out of reach of children. If the product is damaged and the sand is exposed, it is crucial to clean the area with wet cloths to prevent dust from spreading. Additionally, gloves and a protective mask should be worn during this process. After cleaning, the sand and any used materials should be double-bagged and stored securely.
