Volvo Group is recalling specific models of their vehicles, including the EX30 and XC40, due to safety issues. The EX30 may have insufficient fastenings on the front seat head cushions, which could fail to perform correctly in an impact, posing a risk of injury. A total of 781 vehicles produced between 04 September 2023 and 16 July 2026 are affected by this issue in the Republic of Ireland.
Additionally, the XC40 model is being recalled due to a manufacturing defect in the high voltage battery. This defect could cause the battery cells to overheat when fully charged, potentially leading to a fire when the vehicle is parked. There are 415 XC40 vehicles affected, produced between 12 March 2019 and 06 December 2021.
Consumers who believe their vehicle may be impacted should contact their nearest Volvo Dealer or Authorised Repairer. Volvo Cars Ireland Limited will also be reaching out directly to affected vehicle owners with further instructions.
