Macroom Buffalo Cheese Products Ltd. is recalling certain batches of its Mozzarella, Bocconcini, and Burrata cheese products. The recall is due to the detection of Listeria monocytogenes, a harmful bacteria that can lead to serious health issues, especially for pregnant women, infants, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems. The affected products include Mozzarella (125g), Bocconcini (160g), and Burrata (150g), all with a use-by date of 07/09/2026.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause mild flu-like symptoms or gastrointestinal issues such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea in healthy individuals, but it poses a greater risk to vulnerable groups. The incubation period for symptoms can vary significantly, ranging from 3 to 70 days after exposure.

Retailers are instructed to remove the affected products from sale and display recall notices to inform customers. Wholesalers and distributors must contact their customers to facilitate the recall, while caterers are advised not to use the implicated batch. Consumers are strongly urged not to consume these products.
