BMW Automotive (Ireland) Limited is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 series X3, X4, X5, X6, X7 and Z4 vehicles.

A safety issue has been identified whereby the vehicles concerned, water may penetrate the starter motor and lead to corrosion. As a result, it may not be possible to start the engine. A short circuit could also occur, leading to local overheating in the starter motor. In the worst-case scenario, this may result in the vehicle catching fire.

There are 6,821 vehicles affected in the Republic of Ireland that were produced between 28 September 2015 and 07 September 2021.

BMW Automotive (Ireland) Limited is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain 2 series, iX2, X2, iX1 and X1 vehicles.

A safety issue has been identified whereby in the vehicles concerned, the front left and/or right seat belt was not manufactured correctly. In the event of a collision or accident, the restraint function may be reduced and may not provide the necessary protection. As a result, there may be an increased risk of injury.

There are 25 vehicles affected in the Republic of Ireland that were produced between 18 June 2025 and 25 August 2025.

A safety issue has been identified whereby the two outer headrests in the second row of seats may have been incorrectly manufactured. The protection they offer may be limited in the event of a collision or accident. In addition, headrest parts may become exposed and cause serious injuries.

There are 8 vehicles affected in the Republic of Ireland that were produced between 11 July 2024 to 15 July 2025.

BMW Automotive (Ireland) Limited is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain BMW 3 Series, 4 Series, i4, 5 Series, i5, X3, G18 (X5), G68 (5 Series) vehicles.

A safety issue has been identified whereby in the vehicles concerned, the positive battery cable of the starter-generator, which is important for the engine drive and the operation of the vehicle’s electrical system, may not have been manufactured correctly. This could result in a loose electrical connection, leading to excessive contact resistance. In cases where this manufacturing defect has occurred, the vehicle cannot charge or start. This is indicated by a red engine-warning light. It is possible that contact points in the starter-generator could overheat and cause a vehicle fire.

BMW Automotive (Ireland) Limited is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain BMW X3 series vehicles.

A safety issue has been identified whereby failure to bolt the B+ cable tightly enough to the starter generator may result in contact problems and an increase in contact resistance at the bolted connection. This may in turn lead to local overheating and even to the vehicle catching fire or to the engine stalling while the vehicle is coasting.

BMW Automotive (Ireland) Limited is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain BMW 2 series, 5 series, i5, 7 series, i7, X1, iX1, X2, iX2, X5, X6, X7, XM, X5M, and X6M series vehicles.

A safety issue has been identified whereby on the vehicles concerned, the hollow shaft of the servomotor was not welded correctly. The weld may not be able to withstand high braking pressure build-up and may break. In this case, the reduced braking performance requires greater force and the braking distance may increase. In addition, the ABS and DSC brake control systems are not assisted. This increases the risk of an accident.
