Mitsubishi Fuso Ireland has announced a voluntary recall for specific models of their eCanter and Canter commercial vehicles. The recall is due to several safety concerns that could potentially lead to accidents. For the eCanter, the Active Side Guard Assist (ASGA) sensor may be obstructed by the vehicle's body or added accessories, which could result in false warnings and a failure to detect obstacles in the sensor's coverage area. This issue affects 16 vehicles produced between 23 June 2023 and 30 April 2024 in the Republic of Ireland.
In addition, a recall for the Canter models has been issued due to a software error in the SSAM module, which controls various lighting devices and windscreen wipers. This malfunction could lead to lights failing in dark conditions or wipers not functioning in rain, significantly reducing visibility and increasing the risk of accidents. This recall impacts 66 vehicles manufactured between 11 July 2024 and 09 December 2022.
Another recall for the Canter vehicles addresses the possibility of rear axle leaf springs being made from substandard materials. If these springs fail, fragments could pose a danger to other road users. This issue affects 37 vehicles produced from 08 January 2015 to 31 October 2019.
