These products, manufactured after May 2019, may be installed in homes and leisure settings like holiday homes, caravans, and boats. The concern is that the gas supply elbow joint can fracture, potentially causing gas leaks, which pose serious health risks including burns, fire, explosion, and poisoning from inhalation.

Consumers can identify if their gas hob is affected by checking the data plate, which contains important information such as the manufacturer's name, brand, model number, and batch number. This data plate is usually located underneath the gas hob but may also be found at the front, back, or side of the appliance. If accessing the data plate is difficult, consumers are advised to refer to the documentation that came with the appliance or contact the manufacturer or retailer for assistance.
