Samsung gas hobs recalled due to risk of gas leaks and fire hazard

Samsung has issued a recall for specific models of gas hobs due to a safety concern regarding the gas supply elbow joints. These joints, which connect the gas hob to the gas supply, may fracture, leading to potential gas leaks. Such leaks can result in severe risks, including burns, fire, explosion, and inhalation poisoning, which could endanger health or even lead to fatalities.

The affected gas hobs were manufactured after October 2019 and are used in domestic settings as well as in leisure environments like holiday homes, caravans, and boats. Although the batch numbers are not specified, several model numbers are included in the recall, each with corresponding bar codes. Consumers in the Republic of Ireland who own these models should take immediate action.

Consumers are strongly advised not to use their gas hobs and to arrange for an urgent inspection and modification by a Registered Gas Installer, which will be provided at no cost.
