Nissan recalls certain Qashqai, X-Trail, and Townstar vehicles due to hazards

Nissan Ireland Limited is conducting a voluntary recall of certain Nissan Qashqai and X-Trail vehicles due to safety concerns related to their lithium-ion batteries. In both models, incorrect software calibration may lead to a situation where the fail-safe mode turns off the main relay, resulting in a loss of engine power. This could cause the vehicle to stop unexpectedly while in motion, increasing the risk of an accident. The affected Qashqai vehicles were produced between 8 July 2025 and 20 May 2026, while the X-Trail vehicles were made between 1 December 2021 and 21 April 2026, totaling 215 and 1,726 vehicles respectively in the Republic of Ireland.

Additionally, certain Nissan Qashqai vehicles produced between 4 May 2021 and 17 October 2024 are being recalled due to a potential issue with the fuel line. The fuel line may move within its retaining clip, which could lead to damage and result in a fuel leak, posing a fire hazard. This recall affects 173 vehicles.

Furthermore, Nissan Townstar vehicles manufactured between 5 February 2021 and 16 May 2025 are also included in the recall. The rear swing door strikers may protrude when the doors are open, which could lead to head injuries for users, particularly when entering or exiting the vehicle. A total of 25 Townstar vehicles are affected.
