Nissan recalls certain Qashqai, X-Trail, and Townstar vehicles due to hazards

Nissan Ireland Limited has announced a voluntary recall of certain Nissan vehicles due to safety concerns. The affected models include the Nissan Qashqai and Nissan X-Trail, which have issues related to their lithium-ion batteries. An incorrect software calibration may cause the batteries to malfunction, potentially leading to a loss of engine power while the vehicle is in motion. This situation could increase the risk of an accident, as the vehicle may stop unexpectedly. The specific production dates for the affected Qashqai vehicles are from 8 July 2025 to 20 May 2026, while the X-Trail models were produced between 1 December 2021 and 21 April 2026, affecting a total of 1,941 vehicles in the Republic of Ireland.

Additionally, another recall for the Nissan Qashqai involves a potential issue with the fuel line. It has been reported that the fuel line may shift within its retaining clip, which could lead to a fuel leak and create a fire hazard. This recall affects 173 vehicles produced between 4 May 2021 and 17 October 2024.

Furthermore, Nissan is recalling certain Townstar vehicles due to a design flaw with the rear swing doors. The strikers of these doors may protrude when opened, posing a risk of head injuries to users, particularly when entering or exiting the vehicle. This recall impacts 25 vehicles produced from 5 February 2021 to 16 May 2025.

Nissan Ireland will contact the owners of the affected vehicles directly to arrange inspections. Vehicle owners who suspect their vehicle may be affected can also reach out to a Nissan Dealer or contact Nissan Ireland Customer Relations for assistance.
